PADI Open Water Diver and PADI Scuba Diver
The PADI Open Water Diver is the first certification in recreational diving which allows you dive with another certified diver. There are some limitations for PADI Junior Open Water Divers (10 to 14 years): 10 and 11 years olds must dive with a parent/guardian or a PADI professional and 12 to 14 years olds must dive with an adult.
The maximum allowed depth for certified PADI Open Water Divers is 18 meters/60 feet and for 10 and 11 age old PADI Junior Open Water Divers maximum 12 meters/40 feet.
Content of the course:
- 5 knowledge development segments, including quizzes and final exam
- 5 dives in a swimming pool or confined open water
- Review of watermanship requirements
- 4 open water dives

- Minimum 10 years old (before course start)

- Logbook

The PADI Scuba Diver is a subset of the PADI Open Water Diver course. As a certified PADI Scuba Diver you are only allowed to dive together wir a PADI professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters/40 feet. To become certified a PADI Scuba Divers must complete the knowledge development segments 1 to 3 including quizzes, the dives 1 to 3 in a swimming pool resp. confined open water, one part of watermanship requirements and open water dives 1 and 2 successfully.
